Results

With dermal fillers, results are immediate but improve as swelling resolves and the product “settles.” The full effects of Botox or Dysport develop within seven to 14 days. Biostimulators increase collagen production for results that develop gradually over several months.

Wrinkle Relaxers vs. Dermal Fillers

Both wrinkle relaxers (also called neuromodulators) and dermal fillers can refresh and rejuvenate your appearance, but the type of wrinkles they target and how they work differ.

Wrinkle relaxers such as Botox and Dysport work by temporarily stopping the repeated muscle movements that cause expression lines to appear, effectively treating crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles, ‘11’s’ between the brows, and more. In contrast, dermal fillers and biostimulators are suitable for treating concerns like volume loss, facial folds and static lines and wrinkles.

Which type of injectable is right for you depends on your needs, concerns and goals. Many people combine Botox/Dysport and dermal filler treatments to address multiple signs of aging at once for the most comprehensive results. No matter which approach you choose, our experts will develop a highly personalized treatment plan to help you achieve a natural, vibrant look.

The Injectable Treatment Process

1. Initial Consultation

The quest for a smoother, rejuvenated appearance starts with a personalized consultation. At this initial meeting, you’ll discuss your concerns and goals with one of our experienced nurse injectors. They’ll also evaluate your anatomy to develop a treatment plan that enhances your natural features and reveals the best version of you without compromising your expressiveness.

2. Pre-Treatment Prep

Wrinkle relaxers, fillers and biostimulators require minimal pre-treatment prep, but our team will provide advice for ensuring the best possible results, such as taking arnica tablets a week or so before your appointment to reduce bruising. If a numbing cream is being used to help with any discomfort, this will be applied when you come in for treatment and allowed to sit on the skin for 30 to 45 minutes. While it takes effect, you can sit back and read, relax or catch up on emails!

3. Your Treatment Experience

Your Botox, Dysport or filler treatment will be administered by one of our skilled nurse injectors using a fine needle. Each injection takes just a few seconds to complete and feels like a small pinch, but our advanced techniques make the experience surprisingly comfortable. During your appointment, your provider may ask you to squint, smile or raise your eyebrows to enhance the precision of treatment and ensure natural-looking results.

4. Post-Treatment Care

Injectable treatments require little to no downtime. After your appointment, you’ll be free to return home and resume your normal routine. While there are few activity restrictions, our team will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions to ensure beautiful and satisfying results — these may include avoiding alcohol and strenuous exercise for up to 48 hours, no touching or rubbing the treated area and applying a cold compress to help reduce swelling and bruising.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I still look natural?

When performed by a skilled injector, absolutely! At U Laser Med Spa, our goal is to always provide results that enhance and refine your appearance while maintaining your natural expressions, creating a look that is never stiff, “frozen” or overdone. With our personalized treatment plans and expert approach, your friends and family will notice you look refreshed but won’t be able to put a finger on why.

What’s the difference between Botox and Dysport?

Botox and Dysport are neuromodulators, injectables that work by temporarily relaxing treated muscles to smooth away expression lines or wrinkles. While these treatments are very similar, there are a few subtle differences in how they’re formulated. Dysport tends to spread more easily, making it sometimes advantageous for treating larger areas like the forehead. No matter which you choose, both are excellent choices for refreshing your appearance.

Can treatment be reversed?

Yes and no. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. tNeuromodulators like Botox and Dysport cannot be reversed but wear off gradually over the next three to four months. Choosing experienced providers like ours who understand your needs and goals will help ensure results you’ll love the first time without the need for a do-over!

How long will my results last?

The longevity of your results can vary depending on several factors, including your metabolism, the product and amount used, what areas were treated, your lifestyle and how well you follow aftercare instructions. Botox and Dysport typically last for up to four months, but areas with more muscle activity may see the effects wear off sooner. Most dermal fillers last for six to 18 months, while biostimulators like Sculptra and Radieasse can provide volume for up to two years.

What side effects should I be aware of?

Injectable treatments are associated with few serious side effects. You might experience some redness, swelling or bruising at the injection sites that fades within a few days. Allergic reactions and complications like vascular occlusion, infection and migration are rare and can be minimized by choosing a qualified provider and following all post-treatment instructions.
