A medical spa facial uses stronger, cosmeceutical-grade products, along with techniques and technology that go beyond what a traditional day spa can offer. Our treatments are performed by Medical Aestheticians, Laser Specialists and Aesthetic Nurse Injectors who can effectively address deeper concerns like acne scarring and hyperpigmentation.

The right facial will depend on your skin type and what you want to improve. Our facials are suitable for all skin types and tones, including darker skin tones, but may need to be customized based on your skin characteristics. The best way to find out which treatment is right for you is to schedule a consultation.

Many patients will notice a visible difference after a single facial with skin that is more hydrated and brighter than it was before. If you are coming in for deeper concerns like acne scarring or fine lines, you may need a series of three to six treatments to see your full results. We will map out a plan for you based on your skin and goals.

Facials can be adjusted to work well for sensitive skin. We also offer calming and hydrating options for those who struggle with redness and irritation. Stronger treatments like chemical peels can be adjusted to be gentler on sensitive skin. We often recommend keeping your skin bare for the rest of the day after your standard facial. With some treatments, you may need to wait until your skin fully heals before applying products.

We welcome teens at U Laser Med Spa, but anyone under 18 will need a parent or legal guardian present at the appointment to provide consent. Teen skin has different needs than adult skin, so our Medical Aestheticians take extra care to choose gentle, age-appropriate treatments that support healthy skin without being too harsh. If you are booking for your teen, let us know their age and any concerns ahead of time so we can plan the right approach and answer any questions you may have before we begin.

You can typically book standard facial appointments directly, and we will briefly review your skin before we begin. You’ll need a more in-depth consultation first for stronger treatments like chemical peels or microneedling so we have a chance to assess your skin type, history and goals. This helps us build a treatment plan that is suitable for your skin and will provide the most benefits. A consultation is also the best time to ask questions and learn about pricing before you commit to anything.

To get the most out of your facial, arrive with clean skin and little to no makeup if possible. Come well hydrated and try to avoid heavy sun exposure in the days leading up to your visit. It also helps to let us know about any recent treatments, new skincare products or changes to your routine so we can tailor your facial accordingly. If you have any allergies or are taking medications, share that with us as well so we can make the right adjustments for your skin.

There are a few things to keep in mind before your treatment. We generally recommend pausing retinol, exfoliating acids and other strong actives for several days beforehand, as these can leave your skin more sensitive. It is also best to avoid waxing, sunburns and tanning in the area being treated. For deeper treatments like chemical peels or microneedling, following these guidelines is especially important to reduce the risk of irritation. If you are unsure what to stop and when, we are happy to walk you through it.

Some patients enjoy pairing facials with injectables as part of a complete skincare plan. Timing does matter, though, since some treatments should be spaced apart to avoid added swelling or sensitivity. In many cases, we suggest scheduling facials before injectables, or allowing time in between so your skin can settle. Because our Med Spa offers both aesthetic services and injectable treatments under one roof, we can help you sequence everything in a way that keeps your skin comfortable and your results looking their best.

Certain gentle facials are considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but some treatments and ingredients are best avoided during this time. We may discourage certain treatments like chemical peels or deep resurfacing. If you are pregnant or nursing, please let us know when you book so we can guide you toward the most suitable options. When in doubt, we also encourage checking with your doctor before scheduling any treatment.

Traditional microdermabrasion mainly focuses on removing the surface layer of dead skin cells. DiamondGlow combines exfoliation, extraction and the infusion of condition-specific serums all in a single treatment. It can resurface your skin while hydrating and healing the skin at the same time. DiamondGlow addresses tone, texture, hydration and specific concerns like pigmentation or acne, all without downtime.

For most of our facials, including DiamondGlow and Pellevé, there is no downtime, so you can return to work and your normal routine right away. Your skin may look slightly pink for a short while. Chemical peels and microneedling can cause temporary redness or flaking over the following days, so some patients prefer to schedule these when they have a little time to let their skin recover. We will always let you know what to expect based on your treatment.

We may recommend a patch test first if a treatment uses stronger serums or active ingredients, especially if you are a new patient or have a history of sensitive or reactive skin. A patch test helps us check how your skin responds before your full treatment, but isn’t necessary in every situation. If we feel a patch test is a good idea for you, we will discuss it during your consultation or before we begin.

If you have a wedding, vacation or special event on the calendar, you will need to time the treatment appropriately so your skin is at its best without any redness or flaking. Certain treatments like chemical peels and microneedling can cause temporary redness or flaking, and we recommend scheduling these at least one to two weeks before your event so your skin has time to recover. Gentler options like a custom facial or DiamondGlow can usually be done closer to the date, since they involve little to no downtime. When in doubt, book early, and we will help you plan.
